Flagparley
Flagparley runs entirely on your phone. No account, no ads, no analytics, no network. The messages you type, the ones you save and your quiz scores never leave the device.
Controller
The app comes from BUROL EOOD (trading name: PixelThorn Interactive), registered at Distr. Kutsiyan, Bl. 10, Apt. 6, Pernik 2300, Bulgaria and represented by Hristina Stoimenova. Where this page mentions personal data, that company is the controller of it, under the GDPR and Bulgaria's Personal Data Protection Act. Write to hoist@burol.homes.
Kept on the handset, nowhere else
- Messages you type into the player and any you choose to save for replay.
- Your progress through the lesson path and your quiz scores.
- Settings: language, animation speed, deck accent colours.
A saved message is free text, which means it can hold whatever you decided to type. Exactly for that reason it is written to the app's private area and never sent anywhere; on our side there is no machine that could take delivery. The one copy that may travel is your own Android backup at Google, if you have that feature switched on.
Asks for nothing, connects to nothing
Flagparley requests no permissions at all and opens no network connections. No location, no camera, no microphone, no contacts, no file access. Every figure and flag is drawn by the app itself, so there is nothing to fetch.
Nobody is counting you
There is no sign-in, no advertising identifier, no analytics library, no crash SDK of ours and no profiling of any kind. We cannot tell that you opened the app today, never mind what you practised.
The one third party
The only party between us and you is Google Play, which distributes the app on its own terms. Should your phone be set to send usage and diagnostics to Google, aggregate crash statistics may show up on our Play Console dashboard. They contain no names, devices or messages, and we look at them for one reason: to find what broke.
Younger signallers
Scout troops and school clubs are a natural audience here. Since the app gathers nothing from anyone, it gathers nothing from a child either, and there is no chat inside it, no outbound links and nothing to buy.
About signalling, honestly
Flagparley teaches two flag systems for learning and for fun. It is not the International Code of Signals, not a navigation aid and not a substitute for proper training. Some of these flags carry real meanings at sea, including distress and manoeuvring warnings, so don't hoist a signal you don't mean where others can see it, and don't rely on the app's wording in an operational situation. If you need help on the water, call on VHF channel 16 or dial 112 in Bulgaria and across the EU.
Mail is the one channel where we learn anything about anyone. We keep a thread only as long as the conversation is useful, and no more than a year after our last message, on the basis of legitimate interest in answering people who write to us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Rights, and where to take a complaint
Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection, portability: the full GDPR set applies, though an email thread is the only thing we could produce. Ask and we will answer inside a month. Unhappy with the answer? The Bulgarian supervisory authority is the Commission for Personal Data Protection (Комисия за защита на личните данни), 2 Prof. Tsvetan Lazarov Blvd, Sofia 1592, cpdp.bg; EU residents may also go to their own national authority.
Transfers
None. The app transfers nothing anywhere.
Wiping it
Everything the app holds sits in one place, so one action clears it: in Android's settings open the app's entry, go to its storage and choose to clear the data. Removing the app has the same result.
Revisions
A release that alters the data picture is published only after this page has been updated to describe it, carrying a fresh date at the top.
